It turns out that my present provider, Plus.Net, have been having a lot of problems - but their telephone recorded messages have been lying intermittently. First I couldn't get my e-mail transfers working - checking their website and on the phone said there were no issues then by Thurs last week they admitted they had some issues because they had upgraded their hardware and software. Monday morning I suddenly received a bunch of mail, included some very old stuff. Then Thurs night, just gone I got back in from door knocking - drumming up sponsors for this year's Great North Run - checked in and noticed that my BB connection had gone up to 3.3 MB instead of the 2.2 MB before. Thought OK. Then yesterday morning found I couldn't connect to the internet. Kept getting timeout messages. Tried their phone links again and was told "their were no issues". So removed and re-installed the modem, no change. As we are off on hols next Wednesday and things seem to be moving on the TalkTalk front - another thread - I thought I'd better leave well alone.
