Windows updates

What I would like to do is to copy all the SP3 updates on to a CD just in case it becomes neccessary to do a reinstall sometime in the future, before Microsoft decides to release them on a disc, assumming they ever do.

On one of the Updates pages I used to get a list of all the updates I had installed showed SP3 alongside of them but I can't find the list now, all I can find is quite a big page listing them in blocks of 10. I had the computer set up to put them in a Download Basket in Windows Catalog but according to that, and the Installation History in the Catalog, I haven't downloaded or installed any. I've copied the biggish list, the one in blocks of 10, so that I could search for them then download them to a special folder, but the ones I've searched for so far brings up the message 'Not Found'. I'm obviously doing something wrong and/or not looking in the right place.

It would be very much appreciated if somebody could put me right please.

On new installations and re-installs I let XP install (with SP2) and then connect to the Internet and allow it to update with all the necessary items necessary for it to run to current standards.

I don't make any effort to collect up any updates as almost as soon as the collection has been made, it will be out of date with a fresh vulnerability in the O/S.

On the subject of SP3, there is no service pack of that designation issued by Microsoft at this time and if there ever is going to be, it will be available free of charge, like all other Windows updates have been. I have heard that a so called SP3 disk has been offered for sale. Don't buy it! It is not of Microsoft origin and could contain any old rubbish.

Thank you for your reply Pops. Thinking about it that is probably the easiest answer specially as some of the updates are themselves updated shortly after being released.
