Coreper Posted August 14, 2006 Author Report Share Posted August 14, 2006 TOTAL EDITdoes anyone know how to get my printer back to working?its a HP OfficeJet 5510 All-in-one printeri have got the installation CDits plugged-in [see attachments]can someone tell me which port that is?here you see it being plugged in [i made the cable glow]and here you can see the port where its plugged [made it glow too]here is another story about those ports:the uppest one is the one where our old scanner was plugged [it doesnt work, and we now have the All-in-one officejet, so we removed it {standard unplug setup("Unplug or Eject Hardware")}]and the lowest one is the one where the Printer was plugged in but somethingy came out of it > i dont know what it is [look at it here ]also, i think the problem occured because the cable came out, the thing broke, the printer got disconnected, port got damaged, unable to find port anymore > no printing :Scould this be right?and can this be fixed?trying to install it with the CD doesnt work [suddenly the window disapears... :S ]and i havent succeeded with the standard Microsoft Windows "Add Printer" setupplease note if i have to get more information Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

How large is the broken piece ?Please explain more clearly. Did your existing printer work OK ? - and then it ceased to work.Did you uninstall your old printer/scanner drivers ? dadyassa Posted August 15, 2006 Report Share Posted August 15, 2006 I can see all your attachments, that is a usb cable on the first, a usb port on the second, and the third one all though I have never seen one looks like a usb protection cover. I dont think the actual port can break off because they are behind a metal plate.Like ansome said, it is critical to follow the instructions to a tee, on most the software has to be installed before the printer is even connected, let alone switched on.It will tell you when to plug in and switch on.On the front of your PC there may be another usb port, maybe behind a flap ? dadyassa Posted August 15, 2006 Report Share Posted August 15, 2006 Just had a look at mine, there is a piece in the top of the socket and a piece in the bottom of the lead plug, they are to make sure you dont plug it in upside down I assume.
