I was going to get a small flat pannel 17" to screw on the wall so that I could watch TV while on the net .....Then a mate of mine said that as Ive got a few older comps , which I intend to get them networked , why not get a Hauppaguge card and watch TV on another monitor ..... so Ive bought one nova tvWow ...Im impressed ....loaded the software plugged it in ...self tuned and set it self up sright after a 4 line registration ....and the picture is mint ...at full screen .....I'm now goning to get another 19" Xerox , so that Ive got a matching pair ( I like it ) ..... cheaper than getting the equivalent in size as a TV ......or poss a widescreen One of the nicest small bit of kit that Ive had in a long time The rest of the flatpack furniture arrives in 3 weeks ..This may be the first room that I will complete 100% ... Ive only been at it 18 months .....urph .... I will finally post some piccies after Ive finished the flatpack building fest ...next month .... heh ... im no longer living on a building site ...its stating to come together Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Its not..... but the picture quality almost seems like HD , much better on a monitor than a normal portable TV uses your hard drive as a recorder , and you can pause live TV rewind replay apparently ...not sussed this yet def gets my recomendation if your thinking about getting another (spare) TV , this is the way to go , saves having to buy a TV DVD recorder too .... Tankus Posted August 30, 2006 Author Report Share Posted August 30, 2006 uh ho ...... well had a look at it ......my comps set up for most of this anyways ...I tunes , windows photo centre keyboard and software ... ( Ive just recently dumped Piccasa2 , I like Bills version )but I guess it puts it all under one roof so to speak .....and its a freebie .... (lurve freebies , resistance is futile )Here I am almost 2 hours later (MS.Net and media update 30 megs media portal zipp 22megs downloaded ,15000 songs 7500 photos and 15 films scanned (uh wot films...?) on the C drive (thank god my other 4 drives weren't plugged in ...? 55 tv staions 25 new radio scanned 6 tv updates 4 radio updates and I have even an Eskimo language option on the TV grabber ....uh ...wot ...?Hmmmm ......Its rather keen on trying to get internet access ....... play around with it see whats its like cheers for the link Jason do you use it ....? I can now run my photo viewer and I tunes from my happauge remote using the interface .(nice interface )... It also uses messenger and can be configured for RS feeds your right about it being resource happy though ....my fan has stepped up a notch ......that usually only happens when |I'm playing graphic intensive games ...... Tankus Posted August 30, 2006 Author Report Share Posted August 30, 2006 hmmm min specs are a bit low Ive got a 3.4 pentium... 2gbmem.. 256mb ati graphics and a 350gb HD ....the fans gone off now though .. Im still playing with my remote .....arf really nice interface ...easy to see from a distance if your using the monitor as a TV .....gonna keep it ...and see about the various personalisation options ...there are a hell of a lot of configurable plug in opportunities The Itunes plug in is excellent ..... much clearer .......wonder if anyone else has tried it ...... be pretty good on your new 24" craig .....thanks again for the Link jason ...... quality Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Tankus Posted September 13, 2006 Author Report Share Posted September 13, 2006 update the hauppauge box still rocks , no drop outs at all .....still my fave bit of cheapo kit that Ive ever bought ..!still not networked my comps yet , but my graphic cards a dual head , so , seen an ad on PC World for thisHmmm £149 fer a 19" widescreen , so I bought it well happy Run the freeview on that (excellent picture) and windows on my Xerox Don't think you could by a 19" wide screen freeveiw flat screen for the price of £210 , definitely the way to go Ive found that when running both monitors its best to stick to the hauppauge software as the portal is a bit of a push , resource wise Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
