grim1953 Posted September 12, 2006 Report Share Posted September 12, 2006 I recently purchased the ImTOO AVI to DVD Converter from their website, installed the program only to find that it did not identify my DVD burner which is a LITE-ON DVDRW LDW-4115, I emaioled their support department who sent me back a little program to install and return a log to them, which I did, they wrote back and said that their program DID NOT support my burner. Writing back and telling them that the program was not alot of use to me then I asked for a refund of money paid, they refused saying that they dont give refunds, yet no where on their site can I see that it says this! they have now taken to ignoring all emails sent by me to ask them to clarify and tell me where to find the relevant section on their site that says that a) they do not give refunds b)that the program may not work with some burners. As anyone else had problems with this program/internet site and does anyone know if they are legally right to refuse a refund even though the fault seems to lay with their software? E-mail the company again with a copy to Trading standards, stating that the goods as supplied were not fit for the purpose for which they were sold, according to the Sale of goods act. After all, that is what these trial downloads are for - to test the program and ascertain it is suitable for your needs.Having said that, though, I am surprised at the unhelpful attitude they seem to have taken with you on this matter. OK, they may not give refunds because you should have downloaded a trial version but they don't seem to be giving much assistance in getting you out of the problem.All in all, I think the only thing you can do now is put it down to experience.Another point is that the references for the DVD burner on Google give only some garbled results and there is no mention at all on the LiteOn web site which suggests that there is something unusual about the item.
