Mattriz87 Posted September 25, 2006 Report Share Posted September 25, 2006 I have been having sound problems. I believe it is related to an svchost.exe error, and a Win32 services error that follows. If I can get the application open before the error pops up, sound will work for that program. But if I close it, I cannot use sound. I have been told this is a virus, but we've gone through it and can't find anything. I have troubleshooted everything involving the sound devices, they all say they are working properly. I have tried to update, there are no updates. When I go to my sound device section, it says there is no sound devices installed. I am running out of options. Below is an image of the svchost and win32 errors. The 3rd image is when I try to play sound files on WMP. The last one is the error when I try to go into volume controls. Anyone have a clue? -pops- Posted September 25, 2006 Report Share Posted September 25, 2006 Assuming your system has been working correctly in the past, the first thing I would do in a situation like this is a System Restore to a time before it happened.If that didn't work then I would re-install the whole setup from my full system backup. Scarthy © ® ™ Posted September 27, 2006 Report Share Posted September 27, 2006 What hardware are you using? Have you tried re-installing the audio drivers?Have you run SpyBot S&D? It could be a virus as they tend to attach themselves to the processes like svchost.exe.Another good program is 'The Ultimate TroubleShooter', which shows you certain virus attacked .exe's and what to look for if they have been hacked.Another is 'Spyware Blaster' that is free and blocks known Spyware etc. from getting out.Has this happened after an update or a firewall asking for something to access the web somewhere? Some firewalls allow you to make another configurisation in them, in which you could re-allow certain process's and not allow others (if you are confident with the settings).My first suggestion is to re-install the drivers and then run Spyware Blaster and Spybot S&D to rule out spyware.
