CJ550
I know i have to upgrade my graphics card from time to time, but is there anything else on my computer that i need to update regularly? thanks
-pops-
I have never updated a graphics card or other hardware in any of my computers. The things I update are those things which require keeping up to date to enable the machine to keep running - things like Windows update, the antivirus and other anti-malware programs. Updating for the sake of it can have dire consequences especially updating the BIOS and I've known that graphics card updates can wreck the facility they are trying to improve. ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb
-pops- is right (as always); don't update your drivers unless you need to, and then also only if you have a full system backup.Other softwares may offer new versions with security updates, e.g. Java RTE, Adobe Reader, Flash Player, etc. If you check out this section of the Windows Forum from time to time, you will always be informed what new updates are available. andsome
On many forums the usual answer when someone has a problem is a suggestion that they may not have the latest drivers. My answer to that is in the form of another question. Why should I suddenly need new drivers when the originals have worked perfectly until today? My computer is now 3.5 years old and has never had a driver update.
