Keav Posted October 19, 2006 Report Share Posted October 19, 2006 Hi,Does anyone have the firmware .bin file for version 1.50.8 for the Linksys WRT54GS (v5.1) router.I recently upgraded the firmware to 1.50.9 but now my Nokia N80 will not connect wirelessly to the network, my PC and Laptop are still fine.Linksys have pulled the previous firmware from their site and I can't find it anywhere.My phone will pick up the router but won't pull any data, it gives the message "No gateway reply".If I view the connection on the phone it is constantly flicking back and forth between active & inactive.If I don't manually disconnect the connection then after a while the connection drops by itself but at the same time all my connections (PC & laptop) reset also!Any help or the old firmware to try would be greatly appreciated! Keav Posted October 19, 2006 Author Report Share Posted October 19, 2006 Thanks for the link.I have stubbornly followed the whole reset, power recycle, factory default, reflash etc etc routine with no joy.I'm fairly sure I've ruled out every possible cause in the last few days except trying the previous firmware version.The only thing that is niggling me is that in one view on the phone it shows the mode as infrastructure, but in another view it doesn't know the mode?! Keav Posted October 19, 2006 Author Report Share Posted October 19, 2006 I've just been in contact with Linksys, after trying a previous firmware version 1.50.7, my phone now works but I can't turn on wireless security!Flashing back to 1.50.9 didn't fix the security issue and brings back the phone connectivity problem.Due to the security problem I've been advised that it may be faulty and to get a replacement under warrenty, which I am about to go and do.But I will not be flashing the firmware this time! Keav Posted October 21, 2006 Author Report Share Posted October 21, 2006 Just FYI,I got a replacement router which came with firmware 1.50.5 but it only performed at barely 20% of it's previous on firmware 1.50.8Despite what I said in my last post :P I got hold of the US version 1.50.8 and on assurances that it would work, reflashed.Everything now works and at good speed :)It seems to me that 1.50.8 is the only fully working stable version around at the moment.Thanks for everyones help here, I won't be flashing it again anytime soon! The router recognized it with the old firmware, but as soon as I upgraded the firmware to 1.50.9, the print server is not seen. 5 calls to linksys later, they confirmed it's the firmware causing the problem, and they're sending me a new router (wrt54gs). But I would like to try the previous firmware on this router and see if that will fix the problem.
