WMP 11?

I downloaded WMP 11 from click here.

It will detect your Windows version and check if your copy is genuine before you can download. It didn't seem to be bothered that I was in the UK.

Do NOT remove WMP 10 as you may want to revert to it if you don't like the later version.

I think it's because all its contacts to media libraries are for the US that it states it's for a US audience but I think that as you want it for its technical capabilities, that's not going to matter very much.

I think it hides the previous version.

I'm pretty sure that the 11 version can be removed to revert to version 10.

But, but, but, as in all these things, set (at the very least) a System Restore Point and preferably make a full system backup before embarking on installing any software, especially beta types.

Anyone managed to stop wmpnscfg.exe from running at start-up?

As start-up of what, Media player or Windows?

Either way, I've not seen this .exe file at all either in the beta version I was using or in the latest full version. I have it installed on three machines.

Heres the thread you were probably talking about...

WMP11 comes with several command line options that sound like they could help you if nothing on the above page works...

Hopefully something there will help. I also have wmp11 installed but don't have wmpnscfg.exe running. If nothing there works try searching the registry and removing it from the wmp11 file list.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Updates\Windows Media Player 11\SP0\wmp11\Filelist\41

It may help, I don't have wmpnscfg running but after deleting the key it didn't cause any problems. If you have to do it this way at least backup that key just in case.
