ncb123 Posted October 26, 2006 Report Share Posted October 26, 2006 I have an odd problem occuring when I boot my PC. It takes five minutes for internet explorer and Trillian to start after logging into the system. I've watched things in task manager (run hijack this, spysweeper, and Norton) and haven't found out anything of the ordinary. The more hardware, Windows components, and applications you have installed, the longer it takes for Windows, device drivers, and startup programs to initialize. It is always best to wait until everything is fully initialized (and the HD indicator light stops flickering) before starting any other applications.There are numerous ways of making startup faster, e.g. removing unnecessary startup programs, uninstalling unused device drivers, cleaning up hard drives, defragmenting user files, registry files, page file.As always, be sure to have a full backup before making major changes to your system! playaj20008 Posted November 1, 2006 Report Share Posted November 1, 2006 Sorry but theres no fix for a slow computer. Most programs take more than usual time to load if its the first time (like after startup), but after that they will load quickly because they are stored in the ram or cache.
