dkizzy
I just put together a core 2 duo with ocz ati certified pc 6400 ddr2 ram. I don't know if static somehow damaged the mb but I still get the green light on it that im getting power. when I boot it up all the fans run but nothing shows up on the display and my cd rom drive does not indicate any power even though it is plugged in for power. any idea what the hell this is? i hope i didn't put the cpu in sort of incorrectly otherwise this blows. somebody help me with this please. 160gb sata 3gb/s hd (nothing installed on it yet) is also plugged in and seems to be getting power. I put a coolermaster mars cooling fan on and it required me flipping the motherboard upside down for mounting so I hope that didn't screw anything up.Thanks
rong
Have you checked that the graphics card is properly seated/can you try another, the same with the ribbon to the CD.
-pops-
When I build my first boot up is with the absolute minimum of components - so that is motherboard, graphics card and one stick of memory. No CD drive, no hard drive. That setup should boot you into the BIOS and you can normally check things like boot order and general information like that. Only after that is going OK do I add a hard drive and check that is detected and then a CD drive.Doing things progressively like this allows you to check where the problems (if any) are located. dkizzy
Have you checked that the graphics card is properly seated/can you try another, the same with the ribbon to the CD.I tried a different graphics card and I'm going to try it without the hd plugged in. Whenever I unplug the IDE cable the cd-rom recieves power again but when i plug the IDE cable it goes dead. I have no clue why the display won't work. The light is green on the board so I'm assuming the board isn't damaged from static, and to my knowledge the ocz ati certified pc-6400 ddr2 is compatible with the core 2 duo processor. Is it possible the chipset socket pins are causing this?
dkizzy
I tried without anything hooked up except for the graphics card, memory, and cpu. still doesn't work :(
Alan2273
Have you tried checking it out with another PSU.
dkizzy
Have you tried checking it out with another PSU.Yeah it was the psu, the power box unbelievably didn't come with the atx 4-pin 12v plug that the asus mb needed. I was stunned.
