Hi,

I have recently run a program that appears to have released a released a trojan or something that has seriously affected my CPU and RAM usage. When the PC is idle my CPU can shoot upto 60% for no reason. It also appears to have affected my RAM, I have 1gb but almost 700k is yaken up when idle. There is a suggestion that svchost.exe is the issue, can any one help.

I recently had the same problem with CPU usage jumping unusually high. I used ProcessExplorer from Sysinternals and found that AutomaticUpdates Services was causing the problem. Once disabling the service, everything is fine. I now have to do manual updates, but I do that anyways.

Here is Sysinternals ProcessExplorer: http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sysintern...ssExplorer.mspx
