Now I have it, everything plugged in, etc. I run it and after Post it comes up with Verifying DMI pool and then "Boot from CD". I have it set to run my JBOD SATA drives first, so does this mean somehow they've been wiped and I need to reinstall Windoze?I put in my Windoze CD, but I'm not sure what to do with it from there. -pops- Posted November 22, 2006 Report Share Posted November 22, 2006 Don't expect an old hard drive with XP on it to work in a new system.XP "knows" the system it was intended for and if it doesn't match during the boot sequence, it fails.It doesn't mean you have lost information just that it isn't accessible in the way you are trying to do it.What I would do is obtain a new hard drive and re-install your operating system on that. trackrat Posted November 22, 2006 Report Share Posted November 22, 2006 Will I be able to, legally, use the same copy of Windows on the new HDD.That depends on if it is a full XP CD or an OEM CD.But mine is an OEM CD and I have changed my motherboard and processor and although I had to reregister it after reinstalling Windows I had no problems doing that. andsome Posted November 23, 2006 Report Share Posted November 23, 2006 If you want to boot from CD so that you can install a new O.S., watch carefully when the CD is detected in the drive, you will be asked to press any key to boot from CD.
