gordythegouge
Hi,I wonder if you can help me! I’m using a Creative MUVO2 512 MB MP3 Player with my AMD 2500 Barton CPU,Windows XP Pro (SP2),120 GB HDD, 1Gb RAM,Asrock motherboard,Creative Audigy 2 ZS Soundcard etc,Whenever I try to transfer files from the PC to the mp3 player, the PC will hang on transfer, I might get 1 or 2 transferred and then it hangs or on a good day maybe 3 or 4…..but the only way I can get the PC back is by disconnecting the the mp3 player from the PC. And as it’s not safe removal via the Remove Hardware icon it can cause all sorts of problems with the player. Can anyone help?GordonPS Software is up to date as is the firmware

gordythegouge
OK, the Player appears to work perfectly on my friend's PC.....which leaves either my PC as the problem or a software problem I suppose. I use the same USB lead to transfer photos from my Caplio digital camera with no problems at all so I'm a bit stymied as to what is the problem. Could there be a conflict between software as I have Musicmatch, Creative's own software and Windows Media player all on the PC. They all have Playlist as part of their operations and as the recommended way to transfer music to the Muvo is by Drag and Drop to the Playlist (Within Windows Explorer), I wonder could this be a problem? I've tried Copy and Paste and get the same results ie the Pc hangs in mid file transfer! Help! Gordy
-pops-
I use the same USB lead to transfer photos - - -From that I assume you use the same USB socket.I have found that USB isn't as universal as it claims it is and some hardware/software combinations like to have their own more or less dedicated USB port. I have found this particularly with audio devices such as Creative Extigy, Nomad MuVo TX and a VoIp phone. In the case of the phone, swapping from one USB port to another caused the computer to say it had found new hardware and it then proceeded to re-install all the drivers and software for the phone again.I don't know if this relates directly to your problem but it may be worthwhile giving the device its own USB port, at least for a trial. gordythegouge
Pops.......I'm getting to the stage whereby either the PC or the Muvo is going to end up in the skip.......so I'll try any suggestion (within reason!). I fitted a PCI USB adaptor card to the PC as I thought that might help... but no. In answer to your question about the USB slot I use......I just leave the cable attached to the PC and just connect either the camera or Muvo as and when I need it! I keep thinking there must be something obvious I'm missing but what it is?.....Anyway..this particular problem has been ongoing for far too long now and I really need to get it sorted for my own personal satisfaction .......and sanity!! So I'd be obliged if you keep your thinking cap on.....I've worn mine out! :D Gordy
-pops-
I would have expected a USB PCI card to do the trick and that was going to be my next suggestion if you hadn't already installed one.I assume that the card has more than one port so, try installing the MuVo into another port on the card or, perhaps better, one of the ports on the motherboard. I can't remember the installation sequence for these devices but, if you are required to plug in the device before installing software then I would delete all the MuVo software and start the whole procedure afresh with the new USB locations.(If you think this is difficult, you should have tried using Creative products about 6 or 7 years ago - a complete nightmare).
