DJ_danne
Hi, I have trouble with windows media centers playback of mpeg-2. At first windows media player wouldn't play them either, but since I reversed the install from version 11 to 10 media player can play the files (even if it complains that it doesn't have the correct codec). For some reason media center won't start playing mpeg-2 files when media player does, so I expect that it might not have noticed that it's media player 10 that the current player... I've also tried different codec packages, but they just make the movies lag. Anyone know how I can get media center to work with mpeg-2? Scarecrow Man
Upgrade to Media Player 11 again, by downloading the file from here. Then, install K-Lite Codec Pack (any version, I recomend full) from here.I cannot explain the lagging, but this should solve it as well as the problems with it not playing. DJ_danne
Now I have installed media player 11 again and installed the codecs. I t now works in media player 11 the same way it did in 10 (plays fine but with error message). Media center can't even start the movie, so the media center problem remains... Panarchy
I can give you a codec pack for WMP that will allow it to play any video file. (I'm not sure about RealMedia Files but every other files eg mkv avi mpg mpg2 etc.)
