tobes
I am having problems with the speed in which text appears on the screen. I usually lasts for about 30 minutes then suddenly goes back to normal. It started off only doing it very rarely but know it does it every time i turn the computer on. It is very annoying. Any advice.
Redhat
Is it during something resource-intensive? Such as a virus-scan?
mark2
Have you checked for spyware, do you have any programs that could be automated in task scheduler kicking in ?Does it happen only at start up ?

mark2
Have a look in 'scheduled tasks' see if there is anything set to start on every boot, if nothing is scheduled have a look in MSconfig to see what is starting automatically with windows . This program stores all buddy list info apparently on the server itself so you never lose your buddy list should you need to reinstall the program due for whatever reason or even reformat. Available via Start -> Programs. Delete the shortcut in Start -> Programs -> StartUp as well otherwise it will be reinstatedUpdreg not needed either
mark2
I think it will be worth a visit to http://www.lurkhere.com/~nicefiles to download Startup list and see what else decides it has to start with windows.
Guest moon
Nice link, mark, cheers. I snaffled four of those. :)When the Startup folder has been trimmed, this teeny little app. will prevent anything from adding itself to the Startup list without your permission. mark2
nCase (or nCASE, or n-CASE, seemingly at random) is adware from 180Solutions. It consists of a process, msbb.exe, that runs constantly with Windows and shows advertising, the uninstall/clean up option is best. Here's how to get rid of it totally.Open the registry (click 'Start', choose 'Run' and enter 'regedit'), find the key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run, right-click the entry 'msbb' inside it, and click 'Delete'. Restart the computer and you should be able to delete the 'nCase' folder inside Program Files. In older versions without an 'nCase' folder, look in the System folder (inside the Windows folder; called 'System32' under Windows NT, 2000 and XP ), and delete msbb.exe. To clean up, you can also delete the registry keys HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\nCASE, HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\msbb and HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\180solutions. To delete the installer control, if you have the nCase/Inst variant, open the Downloaded Program Files folder inside the Windows folder, right-click the 'nCaseInstaller Class' entry and choose 'Remove'. mark2
not yet :o open task manager and have a look in processes, see if it is running.Found more on msbbThe URL or keyword is passed with a unique identifier to nCase's controlling server bis.180solutions.com when a targeted advert is shown, allowing web usage to be tracked across sites. Newer versions of the software also seem to try to read an e-mail address, real name and ZIP code to associate with the unique identifier, from applications' data in the registry: Outlook Express mail accounts Outlook user info AOL Instant Messenger accounts Windows location RealPlayer location Windows Fax headers eFax.com headers Acrobat user info Netscape user info MS Comic Chat registration GameSpy registration NetFerret registrationI think you could do with downloading Spybot Search and Destroy and Spywareblaster to prevent more of these attaching themselves to your system
tobes
what do i do when i have used spy bot and it has scanned the system. There are a load of files there for example 'cydoor'
mark2
First of all have you updated it ?If you set spybot to clean up the spyware, some programs will not run with the spyware deleted/disabled.Cydoor can go, as can all the listings in red the others are your choice, Spybot will keep backups of the removals in case you find a program that won't run after it has done it's job. mark2
Glad it's sorted, Spywareblaster will prevent any more being loaded onto your system and doesn't use any resources, but keep it updated as with all securioty progs. ;) ;)
