vortex84
Hello, my folder option for show hidden folder is not working. it always reset back to do not show hidden folder. another problem is that my system restore is turn off and all my previous store point is deleted. i've got this suspicious program running in the task manager named SVOHOST.EXE. is it the cause? also my other partition of HDD can't be open just by simply double clicking on it but i have to right click and explore or open then i can access to that partition. Anyone have any idea what's going on? I'm using windows XP pro service pack 2. Thanks..

Coreper
i might be a malware thingy, because it looks suspeciously much like the SVCHOST.exe process, which is totally harmlessbtw: even if you enable the "Show hidden files and folders" in the folder options, some folders and files wont be shown, for security reasons:system files [like thumbs.db > includes data about thumbnails in a certain folder] and system folders [like folders in you Local Settings/Temporary Intertnet Files/ directory, these mostly exist of a bunch of numbers and letters]these files and folders are not shown, because they insure programs to stay stable, and workingi cant help with the system restore > dont know why its turned offabout the partition opening: try to figure out how to set the main action of the double clicking to explore that directory
vortex84
Thanks CurlyWhirly i'll try HJT.. But the link you gave to me doesn't really solve my problem.. The process can be terminated and i found it in the registry and i already delete it.. but the problem is still persist. The TrueSword does not even detecting svohost.exe as harmful.. and i found another program not in task manager but in each partition named sxs.exe complete with the autorun.. "system files [like thumbs.db > includes data about thumbnails in a certain folder] and system folders [like folders in you Local Settings/Temporary Intertnet Files/ directory, these mostly exist of a bunch of numbers and letters]" - CoreperThere is a folder that's i mark hidden contain a certain file but that folder also can't be shown.. apparently this "thing" can be transfered through thumb drive cuz my friends is been infected.. stupid of him when i already warned him... Thanks..
