catgate Posted December 29, 2006 Report Share Posted December 29, 2006 I have been offline since 22 Dec. This has been with both my Linux machine and with my old W98 machine. The residents of the Indian subcontinent, after I have pushed this button for that and that button for this, have been telling me, for the last three days, that some users are having "browser issues" but they are "addressing the problem". (this despite their web site saying all is peace and light with all services).This afternoon, however, I have found that I can get a very slow clunky connection through W98 and IE/OE (initially OE would not play but then it suddenly rallied) but I can still get nothing with FC5 Firefox/Thunderbird. Can any of the forum intelligentsia shed any light on this, please? Is it something to do with OS or is it a function of the browser? Or is it yet another manifestation of Sod's Law? Do we have anyone other than myself running Onetel (talk/talk) and getting the same benefit from it that I am doing.?Oh! .....and a Happy New Year to you all if it "goes off" again and I do not get back before then. catgate Posted December 29, 2006 Author Report Share Posted December 29, 2006 Contact your ISP in this country by old fashioned means and tell them that you are withdrawing your goodwill unless they get something done to improve the situation.Point out to them that you are paying money for a non-existent service and you expect a generous refund.The only olde fashyoned way I know of, pops, is by letter, and finding the name and address of the appropriate person (the CEO or MD) has taken me much of the evening.Such seems to be their desire for total anonymity that all the 'phone numbers appear, from my experience, to lead to Bangalore. I have a letter (well more of a ships log) ready and waiting for the matter to be finalised at their end and I shall then point out that I have already paid for the service I am not getting and demand a refund (double time of course for the Christmas period!) However I rather think that they will by now have realised that goodwill or illwill makes little difference, so long as they have you on a contract, or tied up, like Doug, with the Migration Code nonsense.
