Acronis - how to? Resolved

Recommended Posts

I have Acronis 9 and have been doing back-ups but never had to use them - until now. I'm trying to transfer my OS and applications to a new drive. So I fitted the new drive. Booted up using the Acronis bootable disc and told it to restore from the bak-up. No go. Gets as far as the splash screen and nowt. So I've re-fitted the original drive and am back here asking questions. Help. At least I'm not in a panic situation. Do I have to do a windows install then apply the back-up or what?

Still struggling. The disk I want to copy the operating system from has it installed on a 18 GB partition. The second data partition has 60 GB. The new drive has only one 37 GB partition and Acronis keeps trying to copy the whole of my present drive over to it and it wont go! More suggestions please.

Hmmm... Acronis won't clone on to a drive smaller than the one it's cloning from.

By smaller, I mean the total capacity of the drive rather than of any partitions (which I believe Acronis doesn't see).
