Coreper Posted December 31, 2006 Report Share Posted December 31, 2006 is it possible to create a program that will do this:open Program#1, press update, press ok, press close [after update], enable all security items in program#1, close program#1open Program#1, press update, press ok, press close [after update], close program#1etc.etc.i think there is a program to do this, but i dont know how this is calledwould it also be possible that it shows the mouse arrow?i think this is possible because there are installers which have got a sort of autorun in them: they move the mouse to the proper buttons and this way the installation of a complex program will be properly configured in 10 seconds! There should be a way to do what you want with the loading time. Its a common need when automating things. Anyway let me know how you make out or how it is using programs like these. -pops- Posted January 5, 2007 Report Share Posted January 5, 2007 I'm very much against updating a program just for the sake of updating.OK, for security issues the situation is slightly different but even then, I don't let MS have free rein in my machines and I always want to see what it is installing and, before it does so, check that the update is problem free. There has been more than one instance of MS updates for Windows causing havoc with the system it is trying to update.With other programs, my main philosophy is that if a program is working the way I want it to, I don't see the point of installing a minor update just to make some cosmetic change. You never know, it could upset the fine balance which makes you approve and use the program. If the update is a major improvement, I wait a while for other, braver souls, to test it out before I even consider installation and then, only after I've made a full backup of my currently working system. Coreper Posted January 8, 2007 Author Report Share Posted January 8, 2007 well, i had another thought about those mouse automators, but i think they just wont work, unless you make a very complicated script for automating them: because if you make an automator, that probably wont support error messages [different messages=different positions of the "Ok" buttons and stuff].
