-pops-
Error 0x0000096 appears to refer to a failure of contacting Windows update. Is your Windows installation fully up to date? You may want to check this by running the update service manually. There is some information here about the error. It seems that, from reading the Googled references, this is not an easy problem to overcome. ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb
Welcome to the Windows Forum! You write that you have this "for serveral months already". Do you have the final version of IE7 installed? What I would try first is to uninstall IE7, reboot, and reinstall from the full download at http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...30-081805b2f90b
babysun
Hello JIA Pei,Great to have you here! Yes I would suggest the same as suggested by PAT. There were quite a few bugs in the previous one. You will get rid of all the bugs with this one. ATB and Happy New Year!
jiapei100
:( Thank you for your prompt reply first.I followed what you suggested, downloaded the newest IE7, and uninstall by checking "Show Updates" in Control Panel->Add/Remove Programs. After that, reboot, and reinstall the new IE7.Still the same, every time when I turn off IE, I got "AutoSuggest Drop-Down: iexplore.exe - Application Error".What's wrong?? I really hate IE now...Yes, I've got to admit that I've been using Firefox and Opera for quite long... Still got no clue about how to slove the problem...Any other suggestions that I should try?? -pops-
Did you check the link I gave?Things don't look good about this error as Microsoft appear to disown it.
cozofdeath
It looks like a memory access problem to me and since its when the program shutdown its probably how the program frees the memory. This is usually only fixable by an install but since that didn't work maybe its a system file or an addon doing this. Try these two...1) Go to Start, run, type sfc /scannow.2) Try disabling add-ons in your IE7 tools menu. Tools, Manage Addons, Enable or Disable Addons. Once the dialog box opens I would systematically go through and disable about 1/4 of them, then shut down IE7 and see if it still happens, then do the next 1/4. Also make sure you click the "show" drop down box and look at the addons that don't require permissions to run.Hope something there helps. jiapei100
hey, cozofdeathyou correct. I don't have a WindowsXP SP2 CD because univ. controlled those staffs uniformly. So, I resort to the 2nd suggestion... After disable All the Yahoo Add-ons, IE7 works fine now. happy ...Now, go to consult Ubuntu 6.10 X wacom problem...Best RegardsJIA Pei
