brwarner Posted January 13, 2007 Report Share Posted January 13, 2007 Im currently running Windows XP on my computer and would like to install Windows 95 on dual-boot. I have dual-booted Windows Vista before so I know mainly how to do it. I have created a new partition (FAT) and found out I couldn't boot from the CD and also that I can't run the setup in Windows XP - (It gives an error about running in WinNT). My question is do I have to remove my XP before putting on 95 then putting XP back on?? I would prefer not because it would be a major inconvience...EDIT:Note that I don't have a floppy drive on my computer and my main partition is NTFS.. -pops- Posted January 13, 2007 Report Share Posted January 13, 2007 It is not normally possible to install early versions of Windows after XP has been installed.The Windows 95 disk is not bootable and it requires the boot floppy to be able to be loaded which makes things difficult as you don't have a floppy drive, even if you remove XP first.You will have all sorts of difficulties with this old version of Windows being able to cope with modern computer hardware - large hard drives being just one.Personally, I can't see myself reverting to any previous version of Windows but, if I did, I would only want to install it on a machine which matched the capabilities of the machines available at the time it was current.
