Windows XP SP2 install problems

Recommended Posts

:(

OS: Windows XP Home Edition

I have a customer that still had not installed SP2 or many of the updates leading to it

I thought I would download and install SP2 bypassing the other updates.

The system now BSOD's and reboots. I am able to boot into SAFE mode.

I disabled the reboot at BSOD and it still does it.

I used MSConfig and set it to Diagnostic mode, Disabling all items.

I also Disabled all services and it still BSOD's.

Any suggestions or Posts to which you can point me?

Almost all problem with the installation of SP2 are caused by there being a fault or error in the system it is being installed into.

I think the only remedy is to do a new install of XP and then install SP2 straight afterwards.
