Outlook Express Import broken?

I am trying to import messages from an old computer to a new one. I am using the import feature provided by Outlook Express, and I am importing messages from a store folder.

The problem is the Deleted Items.dbx and Sent Items.dbx files to not import. Whether done manually, or done by importing. The file size is reported as 47,177 KB for both items (corrupted), but inside Outlook Express they are reported as 0 KB, 0 Messages.

Are there any freeware dbx extraction / repair tools?

I know of one, http://www.oehelp.com/DBXtract/Default.aspx but it costs $5, and while that is an amazing price, free is always better B)

I don't know the Outlook Express Import tool (I don't know OE at all), but I usually recommend to use the Files and Settings Transfer Wizard to migrate objects to a new computer. I think it includes OE objects.

I used that facility recently, whilst migrating files from my former computer. :)

Oops.. old computer is already formatted, so all I have is the dbx files.

Manually I take it means you have actually placed them in the store folder?

This is what I always do.
