I have just been following guideline (1) and when I reached this part....

Windows XP/2000:

Right click on My Computer and select Properties. Click on the Network Identification Tab. Follow the same rules as above for naming the Computer and Workgroup.

"My Computer" does not have the Network Identification Tab.

This printer was shared through my former computer, but I can't for the life of me work out what I'm doing wrong in this case. :(

HELP PLEASE!!

EUREKA!!!

:uhm: I have no idea what I've done, but it works. :clapping::yahoo:

Maybe one or two things(could be both, who knows??:

(1) I entered the IP address of the laptop into the Trusted Zones of ZoneAlarm

(2) I checked a box somewhere, can't recall where, to include files & printer sharing

an easy way to do this is:

1. Start > My Network Places

2. Set up a home or small office network

3. Follow the wizard

4. Enable the File and Printer Sharing

Done!

Note: when you follow the network wizard, set the network name to MSHOME [instead of something else], this might be important > my network didnt work when i named it "Uden", and when i named it "MSHOME" it all worked properly!

btw: you dont need to add the other computers to the trusted zones of ZA, because they get added automatically [they are part of your Home network, which is automatically detected by ZA {atleast, its automatically detected with me: i've got ZA Pro 7}

Thanks very much Coreper.

I actually was following the excellent guide at the top of the Networking Board.

It is very clearly explained...

It was just me missing something... just a tiny :Blond-Moment: . I suppose it might also be described as a 'Senior Moment' ;)
