Xp install vga missing

Ive recently reinstalled xp home.sp2 and when it finished installing i thought id set my aol acount up so i put my aol 9 cd in and got a prompt stating that this application could not start due to graphics issues.I went to device manager next to my simple communications controller,audio card/controller and my vga card,they all said that the drivers were missing.Im a complete newbie and could really do with some feedback if possible.

have you installed the motherboard drivers?.

Did you get a drivers (resource) disk from the manufacturer of your computer? If so, these drivers are probably located on that disk.

If you don't have such a disk, try to find out the details about your motherboard, as well as the devices with missing drivers. Download, install, and run System Information for Windows, and let us know what you find there. We may be able to suggest from where to download the newest drivers.

before installing things that arent neccesary, install ALL drivers

here is how you should do it:

goto Control Panel > System > Device Manager

then you should see devices with question marks [ ? ] in front of them

right click them to see their Properties [this comes in handy when you want to install the drivers]

to download the drivers, you could go to Softpedia's Driver Section

then search for drivers for your hardware

if you cant find the needed drivers, search Google {or ask us ;) }

continue this untill there is NO piece of hardware left with a question mark [ ? ] in front of it

Thanks people,as usual very helpful.I have been trying to fix my pc as a beginner for the past month!!! and if it wasnt for your help i would still be scratching my head....come to think about it,I STILL AM! but you know what i mean.I new i could get the drivers off the net BUT this computer seems determined to put a hill around every corner.Not having my video controller,ethernet controller,multimedia audio controller or pci simple communications causes me to not be able to load up my aol9 install cd for some reason.I got an error prompt after initially clicking aol9 which basically implied that the installation could not continue and that i need to raise my resolution to something more substantial (it actually gave a figure but it was last night,sorry).As i am lacking the above drivers my resolution is stuck at the lowest setting so cant go online to get the drivers and this pc im typing on now is a Pentium 2,128 mb (your jealous arnt you!?) with only a 3.5 floppy drive so cant download them onto media then install them that way.I think the only option is a usb transfer isnt it? a bit extravagant i know but i dont have much option.That computer has fought me all the way and i still havnt won!!!

I do not quite understand how you installed Windows with only a 3.5" floppy...?
