ahubling Posted February 1, 2007 Report Share Posted February 1, 2007 Whenever I open a file select window (Opening a file in Photoshop, Word, etc, saving a file in Firefox, anything involving a popup asking which file to save or load) the files and folder are all arranged by date. They never used to be, they were always by name, then suddenly they just switched to being by date and I can't get them to go back. Every time the window comes up I have to right click and set it to display by name, and it's very annoying and inconvenient. It just confuses me because I didn't change a single setting and it just switched to being like this.Any help for this? Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

The view button looks like a window with icons in it.Changing the view doesn't have an effect on it, no.If it did, that wouldn't aid the problem too much as I would still have to force them to arrange by date. Basically the only reason why this is a problem is because of the inconvenience of always having to switch to "arrange by date" rather than that being the default. It changes, then as soon as I re-open the properties tab it says the folder is read-only again.Why does Windows have to be so brilliant yet so horribly stupid at the same time? -pops- Posted February 4, 2007 Report Share Posted February 4, 2007 Try this:In the My Documents folder, click on Tools-> Options-> Advanced, Scroll down the list and check that "Remember each folder's view settings" is ticked OR click Restore Defaults. This should allow all settings/changes in way folders are organised to be saved.This is more or less the same as catgate gave but in an XP environment.
