avexhype
Sometimes my computer restarts by itself...could this be because of my DVD drive? or some spyware that I have?
-pops-
We need some more details before we can suggest a reason for this.Does this happen at random or only when the computer is working hard? You mention your DVD drive so, does this happen when you are using that? If so what are you using it for? (DVD writing is very processor intensive - this could easily cause overheating and shutdowns). Is there anything in the Event Viewer that could give a clue as to what is happening?I assume that you have done antivirus and spyware checks. If so, what do you use?
avexhype
ya, it usually restarts when the PC is working hard, but sometimes it restarts when I log on...my dvd drive doesnt work yet...i thought it would be the dvd drive because i read somewhere that computers restart on their own when their is usually a hardware problem...I use 4 antispyware programs, but they dont work too good...they are: AVG, Windows defender, hijackthis, and spybot.... Scarecrow Man
HijackThis is to be used by a trained eye only. Have you been removing entries yourself? The other programs you mention are highly recomended on this forum.I would assume it is over-heating as pops says. Try taking the side of the case off, and blowing some compressed air at the CPU fan and PSU fan. If it is very dirty, take it outside first and make sure to only spray while the computer is turned off.
