-pops- Posted February 22, 2007 Report Share Posted February 22, 2007 Many DVD players either are, or can be made, non-region specific.Have a look on the makers website or do a Goooooooogle to try and find a firmware fix for your particular machine.DVD drives in computers are slightly different but still firmware fixes may be available. You can also remove the RPC region code, thereby making the movie region free and viewable on any DVD player and with any DVD player software. scarletjames Posted February 28, 2007 Author Report Share Posted February 28, 2007 Thank you for all the info, I actually went for DVD Shrink 3.1 and ohsocleverly copied a `movie` from the U.S to my computer presuming it was now decoded I put in a blank DVD to copy it as the prog requested .. but it wouldn`t /couldn`t recognise it ..Then I thought ..DVD Burner .. do I have one??I presumed when I bought a Dell 2 years ago and read DVD on the tower where I insert and play CDs and DVDs it would automatically Burn and Copy them when the need arose ..Now the need has arisen .. I want to burn a DVD and can`t...I Burn CDs via Roxio OK And I have Sonic RecordNow Version 6 which clearly says it Burns DVDs ... but isn`t .. it kept asking for a blank DVD Do I need more software??? A seperate DVD Burner ?? darrhhh!! and why is it different to a CD Burner .. and why wasn`t there one supplied ..and why aren`t I rich and beautiful..........I recently bought an external Liteon DVD Recorder to record from the Television .. am I completely stupid in thinking I can use it on my computer as well.. -pops- Posted February 28, 2007 Report Share Posted February 28, 2007 Unless it specifically states, the DVD device in your computer is most likely a DVD ROM and will not, therefore write to a DVD disk, even if it writes to CD.The easiest way to get over the problem is to buy a DVD writer and swap that for the optical drive you have already.DVD writers are quite low cost (although I don't know the prices in Sweden where you state you are from).Before you do that, though, check what the device you already have really is - the manual for the computer should tell you or look in My Computer at Devices with removable storage or download Belarc Advisor (click here) and that will give the information you need.
