The contents of the files that you want to protect are encrypted by WinZip® based on a password that you specify. -pops- Posted February 26, 2007 Report Share Posted February 26, 2007 The safest way to protect your files on a computer is to transfer them to a removable medium and take them away with you.With password protection there is always the problem of you forgetting the password or (as has happened to me) the software providing the protection forgets the password - this as with Steganos Safe. Fortunately there was nothing of importance there.Microsoft Private Folder seemed to be a good tool for protecting files - so good, in fact that business leaders persuaded MS to take it off the downloads site as their employees were making too many private folders.
