WinHelpPlz3 Posted February 27, 2007 Report Share Posted February 27, 2007 Hello,I am running XP Home Edition. I am upgrading to XP Media Center Edition. I pop in the CD while logged into windows, the windows installer window pops up, I click "Install Windows XP" ..................Nothing Happens.When I try to boot to the CD when I am starting up my computer, It says "Press any key to boot to CD/DVD". I press a key and it just freezes. I used to get to where it said Setup is inspecting your computer’s hardware configuration, But it cannot even get passed the Press Any Key screen.How do I update my system? How do I get past those screens? I have looked up about this problem and I found a place that says you have to delete all of your existing partitions, and format your entire drive to get past these screens. I would be fine with that, but can somebody recommend me a good freeware program that I could have on a bootable CD to entirely erase and format my drive? -pops- Posted February 27, 2007 Report Share Posted February 27, 2007 Are you sure it's possible to upgrade from XP Home to MCE?I've read that you cannot upgrade XP Pro to MCE. Scarecrow Man Posted February 27, 2007 Report Share Posted February 27, 2007 It is absolutley genuine.The problem is you cannot upgrade Windows XP Home Edition to Windows XP Media Center Edition. You can only upgrade Windows XP Professional Edition to Windows XP Media Center Edition.I also noticed that the version you have linked is an OEM version. This disc may not support upgrading.
