OK. I am still lost.

I can right click > explore on my start menu, and an explorer window opens in 'C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Start Menu'

I can right click > open on my start menu and 'C:\Documents and Settings\username\Start Menu' opens.

I can open a sub-menu, and have the same effect. Example: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Microsoft Office opens if I right click the Microsoft Office menu.

Perhaps I am just totally missing what you're trying to say?

I'm with you!!

I've got a logitech LX710 - I had a huge update download from them a couple of days ago.

When I click on any shortcut key it does what it's supposed to do. Why do you right click?

I tried a right click on various things on the start menu and got the expected dropdown list every time..........

how about clicking a start menu folder? [which means: open/explore a folder inside the start menu]

btw: when i try that, it first asks me to replace it, then to copy it somewhere else...

I right clicked on Notepad and on MP Clicked 'open' - and they did.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding something here.

So if you click Start, All Programs, then right click on Accessories and choose Open or Explore it opens Windows Explorer? On mine it seems to do nothing but if I recall right it may have worked a long time ago.

All as it was ever on mine.............Sorry I'm no help. :)

I just used ShellExView and found out that MagicISO was causing the problem. I don't know how but it was. When ShellExView opened I immediately disabled everything and rechecked the Start menu problem and it worked. Both Explorer and Open. Then I enabled half of the list, then half of that, etc. until I found which one was causing the problem.

Yeah it will disable the MagicISO menu when right clicking on anything. So I have choose to leave it enabled, at least until I find a better fix. Uninstalling then Reinstalling MagicISO could be a fix I just haven't spent the time to try. Here is a pic of the item I disabled in ShellExView...

Maybe it will help your situation also?
