Jordan
Well, I recently bought a headset with a microphone attatched. The headphones work perfectly, but something is wrong with the mic. I have a headphone (Green) and a microphone (Pink) Jack in the front of my tower. There are also 6 jacks at the back. I plug my headphones into the green jack, and the mic wire into the pink jack. But I've spoken into my mic on Voice recorder, and it doesn't recognise my voice. I've changed the default Voice recording to the "Mic at the front panel (Pink)" But there is one problem. The mixer for the mic volume is disabled, so I can't activate the microphone. I have a picture of my problem.I've done everything! This is a new PC I'm using:Windows XPSound Card: Realtek High Definition AudioRecording Devices: Mic at the front panel (Pink) (The one I'm using) Realtek HDA Primary Input (Tried it before)Headset: Mikomi (Dunno the rest)
Scarecrow Man
You may need to un-mute the microphone line. This can be done via the sounds and audio devices applet in control panel.
Jordan
I've tried it, nothing happens. Here's the pic:
rong
Have you a web cam installed? if you have you may need to go into that to set up your microphone. I had a problem along time ago and that was the reason for it but I cannot remember what I had to do.

Scarecrow Man
Have you tried this?http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documen...e.mspx?mfr=trueOr does the Realtek control panel have a microphone wizard?
Jordan
Nope, my Speech window only has the Microsoft Sam option. There is one really strange thing though... Whenever I'm recording on Sound Recorder, if I pull the wire out slightly, it picks up the clicking sound it makes. And when I click play, I hear the clicking noise again. How can the microphone do that?
jason.b.c
Have you tried plugging this thing into the "back" of the computer , i would try that too...
Jordan
Have you tried plugging this thing into the "back" of the computer , i would try that too...I've tried that before. I plugged it into the pink jack, and the Realtek control panel told me a microphone had been plugged in. But it still didn't work.
ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb
I plugged it into the pink jack, and the Realtek control panel told me a microphone had been plugged in. But it still didn't work. That confirms that the computer "sees" and recognizes the mic. Can you confirm with some other device if the mic actually works? Can you go to the mic's manufacturer's website and see if there are some troubleshooting instructions? Or a FAQ? Jordan
I've searched Google for a Mikomi website, but there doesn't seem to be one.
ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb
Was there some sort of instruction manual?
Jordan
Nope, it's just a plug and play headset. It came in a plastic box, and there weren't any instructions on the back, just notices and that. The only sign of volume editing on the actual thing is a plastic oval shape connected onto the wire, and it has a volume slider, and that's for the headphone part. Boris
My feeling is that it is very likely "tacky" ! You could always get a new set from Argos ?If the new ones don't work either, you can obviously take them back for a full refund within 14 days :) On the other hand, if the new ones do work OK ........... a "careful" person could take the old set back to Argos and get a refund on them instead ? These are only £12.99 - (LabTec Stereo 342 Headphones) but they should be better quality ?http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/6765394.htmor a mere £6.26 from http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/64459
Jordan
I'd get new ones, but my parents have just forked out for a new PC, and I'm not allowed anything else for a while. Not even allowance.
Jordan
Okay, I'm sorry for double posting, for some reason the edit button is gone. I was searching the house for an adapter that connects karaoke mics to PCs. Luckily, I found 3 mics and an adapter. They all work perfectly. This proves nothing is wrong with my soundcard, it's just the cheap and crappy headset. Thanks for all the help you've given anyway! :)
