Tony
Hi I have a PDF file that somebody sent me (it is details of our holiday) I am trying to send it to my sister so she can print a copy off for my parents and her. There is a problem with her home E-mail so i can't send it there. So i sent it to her work email, she has told me she can read it at work, but when trying to print it she just get's a load of rubbish on the page (loads of little squares and sysmbols) She does not want to call the IT guy at work as it is a personal mail. My wife has Adobe Distiller on her PC (which as far as i know is the software that makes the PDF's). Can i convert the PDF into a word document? and if so how? Cheers Tony
Guest Nellie2
Well if it is anything like Acrobat...... then you press the little T symbol and that will allow you to highlight what text you want....... you can then copy and paste in the normal way. Tony
Thanks Nellie2But that does not work, it will not let me copy the text or graphics :( .I will have to try to get hold of him and get him to send me it as a word doc.CheersTony

Tony
Hi It is all sorted now, a mate done it for me, i am waiting to find out how. I did try to select & copy the text but i had no copy option, this plus the fact that my sister could not print it suggests that it had extra security lock downs on it. I am sure that Adobe Distiller could do what i wanted, but i just did not know how . Boris, i just tried that d/l you have to have adobe acrobat installed not just the reader, but as it is sorted now i wont look into it too much.Anyway thanks for the replies Tony
Guest Nellie2
Sometimes it is best to use the keyboard shortcuts..... Ctrl + C for copy and Ctrl + V for paste. That will work for text but I have yet to find a way to copy and paste the graphics in a PDF file.
Tony
Hi Nellie2I do use the keyboard shortcuts, it was only when nothing pasted into word, i went back and tried the menu and the Copy option was greyed out :( Tony
Guest Nellie2
Hmmmm......... I have just opened up a PDF doc to check...( I have been known to talk through my backside on more than one occasion!!!)Anyway it works for me, I can highlight the text and right click and copy or Ctrl+C, it will then paste. Perhaps it is because I am using acrobat reader!!!
Tony
HiOk i have just tried that with a different PDF and it works. So the guy that made the one i want to edit must have set different security options for that PDF.I know he produces Manuls with it so may be he has changed the default security settings in Adobe. Thanks Anyway Nellie2Tony
