mass
Hi all,I just installed microsoft's 4 latest security update the other night (April 11th 2007). And it is causing some major problems.I have a HP dv8000 laptop running Windows XP media center with a gig of ram, 2 80Gb HDD and a AMD turion (not sure what type of AMD it is off the top of my head its a moble CPU).Anyway it takes 10 mins to boot up, it use to only take 30 - 60 seconds. And when it finnaly boots the computerseems to be slower. If I try to run IE7 and winamp it really slows and the music skips and has problems. Before theupdate it was fine.Has anyone experienced this and knows the solution to fix this? I tried to unistall the updates but it didn't fix it.ThanksRon
-pops-
Have your tried to do a System Restore (or a restore from backup) to get over this problem? This is the first I've heard of problems with this latest update but, having suffered in the past with rogue security fixes from MS, I always ensure that I leave the installation a day or so but, especially, I make a restore point AND a backup before doing the installation (as I do with installing anything). ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb
I have installed the updates on all my computers and have not had any problems. Nor did I hear anywhere of such problems (unlike last week's 925902 update, which caused many problems). Are you sure your system is free of malware? Have you performed virus-scan, spyware-scan, etc? andsome
Sounds like a coincidence to me. I too have had no problems. All these updates automatically make a restore point before they install, and you should be able to use that.
