Hiding Automatic Updates

Recommended Posts

I've been fooling around with Automatic Updates for the last hour (the version that comes with XP, not Microsoft Update) and I am, as of yet, still unable to figure out how to hide an update (they've done a pretty good job of hiding the instructions though). I now know at least 3 ways to unhide them, but I'm at a loss for the rest, and the website doesn't tell me anything. Any help would be appreciated. I'm running the 2002 edition of Windows XP, SP2.

I have just installed windows 8.1. I can't find the option to hide a optional update. ( I found it in the original windows 8). I know I can just not check it but I would like to hide it. It's a video driver that will not give me enough resolution for windows 8. I have a lot of kids in the house. :>)

Not installed 8.1 Preview yet, but Is it not just - right-click on the highlighted update + then Select "Hide Update" ???.
