Autoplay

On my Dell laptop, when I start it up autoplay comes up in then top left of the screen and runs over and over. It just has to run its course before I can use my laptop. Any suggestions why his happens and how I can stop it? I have ran the repair through Microsoft, but it tells me there are problems but they cannot be repaired. HELP! Thanks

Have you got a DVD writer, if so disable autoplay and see if that solves it.

If you don't know how to, it can be tricky to disable autoplay. Go to Start > Run and type in gpedit.msc and hit ENTER. A window will pop up and you need to go to the folders Administrative Templates > System. Towards the bottom of the list, there will be an item that says "Turn Off Autoplay." Double-click it and yet another window will appear. You need to click the radio button that says "Enabled," (this enables you to disable autoplay; it's kind of weird) then click on the drop-down list and choose what drives you want to disable autoplay on. Click Apply and you're done!

gpedit only works for XP Professional.

If you go to My Computer and right click on the drive with the problem > properties > AutoPlay tab you can set options for autoplay.
