nnn Posted April 20, 2007 Report Share Posted April 20, 2007 Hello, I recenlty had an attack by a hacker I think I had trojans and all kinds of other things. So I formatted and erased the partitions. I try to install Windows XP PRO 64 BIT and Windows XP PRO 32 version and always encounter the same problem: It finishes the installation succesfully but when it supposed to start the windows for the first time, before even shows the logo it sayd that Windows encounter an error and shows me the screen where I can choose between Safe Mode/Last Known Good Configuration and so on. I tried all the options but always I reach this error and the screen. I thought it's my 64 BIT XP but I tried the 32 BIT version and the same thing. I though I probably have a problem with my data cable or may be my hard drive but I managed to install Fedora 6(I'm using to post this:) So... I really have no ideas is it a virus or what can I do to fix the problem so please respond with some help.Thank you Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I install windows successfully(that's what is saying) then when I try to load it for the first time after the BIOS check it restarts by it self then the second time when it tries to start it give me an error"We Appoligize for the inconvinience windows did not start successfuly, a recent hardware or software change my have cause it" Now the interesting part is when I try to install Fedora all the partitions that I have created do not exist and Linux is looking at my hardrive as it doesn't have partition. Like for some reason something is preventing I gues the recording of windows...I'm thinking it might be a dos virus but I'm not sure...and if it is I don't know what to use to scan at least...but that's about it. -pops- Posted April 21, 2007 Report Share Posted April 21, 2007 Formatting a drive doesn't necessarily remove all the data that is in it - especially if you're dealing with "less than legitimate" things like viruses, trojans etc.If you are able to, try doing a low level format using software obtained from the manufacturer of the drive. This will remove all data from the drive and return it to the "factory state".Alternatively, install a new drive and put Windows on to that.
