Gerald Holdsworth
Anyone know why when I click on "Update Now" in the time settings Windows cannot update the time from *any* time server? This is not just limited to one machine or one network - our PC at work won't do it, neither will the PCs at a friend's network and neither will my boss's father-in-law's PC. The only thing that seems common is that they are all running Windows XP and are connected to the internet via broadband (from different suppliers). The Mickeysoft Knowledge Base is no help (it does list a very similar problem, but is not applicable to this situation).Has anyone else noticed this problem? andsome
I too had this problem with neither of the two usual update sites working. Open up the update controls on the clock and paste in the following, then click on update. this one works fine.europe.pool.ntp.org

-pops-
Are you saying that the europe.pool alternative (and others) fail to update on all the machines you describe in your first post?
Gerald Holdsworth
Are you saying that the europe.pool alternative (and others) fail to update on all the machines you describe in your first post? The Europe one fails on this machine (at work), and another machine failed with other time servers which I found. -pops-
Hmmmmmm......If it were a single machine involved, I would have suspected that at battery failure was the culprit but with multiple machines failing to update, I am at a total loss. There have been problems with the standard time keepers on Windows recently (time.windows and nist) I think, due in part, to the change in the date of the summertime changeover introduced by GWB.Are these machine all running the same version of Windows? If so, which?
