MP3 and Vista Problem Help Please!!!

Hi Everybody:)

I have a strange problem with my new MP3 player. I have a Toshiba laptop with Windows Vista Home Basic. I have 4 USB ports on this computer. I just got a new MP3 player. It doesn't have a brand name although it's listed as EM120X and uses MMC cards. Windows Vista was not listed on the compatibility list but it has a disc for Windows 98 users. It's plug and play for all other Windows versions. (I had bought an Audiophase mp3 player with the built in flash drive and even though it didn't say it was compatible with Vista, it worked just fine and I figured this one would too). Anyway, I plugged into one of the 4 ports on my puter and it said that Windows was installing the driver. The installation completed and it showed up in the My Computer as Removable Drive E. I dragged songs to it and everything worked just fine. On the task bar there was the icon for "Safely removing hardware" so I went through that to remove it. Right now I only have two MMC cards (64mb each) so I wanted to remove the old songs and add new ones. I plugged it back in the same USB port as before and it didn't recognise the drive so I couldn't do anything. I thought I would try it in one of the other USB ports and it went through the same process as it did before with installing the driver and again I changed songs and everything was fine. And again it wouldn't recognise it in that USB port. I wound up using it in all the USB ports and it did the same thing all 4 times and now since I've run out of USB ports (LOL), I can't get the computer to recognise the MP3 player. I'd really love it if someone can tell me what to do to solve this problem. I bought a bunch of MMC cards online and eventually want to put all my music on them. I really love this kind of MP3 player and I don't want to go back to the built in flash drive type. Thanks for any and all help in advance:)

Well, I had no choice because I needed a new computer and they are all loaded with Vista and I didn't have the extra money to buy XP and have the store install it for me. I have no clue how to wipe a hard drive and put on the operating system clean so I would have had to have the store do it.

Still need a solution to the MP3 thing lol.

Do you have a card reader on the laptop, if so try using that, apart from this I have no idea how to solve your problem.

There is only a PCMCIA slot. I suppose I could get an external card reader but who knows if it will have the same problem. Everything else I have works fine. My camera, webcam, printer and not all of them are made for Vista compatibility.

well

you could try with knoppix

burn a copy of knoppix , boot from it - it will see your vista files and probably detect your mp3

use it to transfer files

reboot back to vista

Sounds like you bought an old player with only win 98 and SE drivers, none for XP let alone Vista.

Yeah I ve found the driver at Acme.eu as they seem to claim the Player as their own. I ve' downloaded the driver and installed it on my PC using compatibility mode, and evreything works fine! Am using the MP3 Player EM120X Take MS so it works without drivers. Here's the download: http://www.acme.eu/items/files/113d33a7aEM...rs_software.zip I have a problem too! I ve buyed some rechargable batteries for it (even tough I claim that they are not rechargable as the salesman said) and since I thas no rechargers I ve suspected it is all-in-one. I connect to my PC to upload or delete songs, and I beilive it is for recharging. I ve concluded this on my friend's story claiming that his MP3 Player MUST recharge over PC! It does'nt work, either the batteries are not as rechargable as I thought and I ve been scammed or there is missing piece of equipment that my MP3 Player needs.... What do you guys think?
