Problem with Laptop (ThinkPad T60)

So, I have a new laptop (Got it at begining of year) and I have been having some trouble with it.

It has already been formatted a few times.

This is the current problem;

After about 5 minutes or 3, my computer just 'freezes' I can't type anything or click on anything but I can move the mouse around and usually when I press start, the start menu comes up.

Sometimes it won't stuff up after 5 minutes, but after an hour or something like that, usually when I am running to many programs, it stuffs up, yet again.

Please help me, as this is my work laptop and I need it to do work on (duh!).

Also firefox.exe runs at startup in task manager I can seee it

PS: I just found a HDD fault, I did the inbuilt test.

I'm having the exact same problem with my R60 I bought in March. This drive has been acting funny ever since I've had it and a buddy of mine had to get his replaced in his T60. Same drive. I have a dual core processor with 2gb of ram so that's not the issue. I have redone my machine a few times also. I would really hate to have to replace the drive and have to redo my system again from scratch. That would really suck. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Running Vista Ultimate too by the way.

Many computers can't cope with the demands of Vista, I read frequently. So you've probably pushed the R60 beyond it's limits too many times. Re-formatted a few times within the first year, you say. Then you must have been really pushing it! Re-formatting is the computer equivalent of having a near fatal car accident. It means you're doing it seriously wrong. Suggest you downgrade to XP, friend, it's now a pretty stable system. Or buy a machine guaranteed to be able to run Vista smoothly (so you can take it back if it doesn't).
