It provides fine trattoria fare at reasonable prices, served by a young, competent, and friendly staff. Occasionally Angelo Cozzalino takes a trip to Hokkaido, and when he comes back it is never with empty hands. From his last excursion he came accompanied by a 38kg king salmon, a good piece of tuna, plus scallops and other shellfish. With a bit of extra-virgin olive oil, these make for a very fine carpaccio. For our vegetarian friend the kitchen prepared an excellent antipasto misto without any fish or meat. This was followed by a rucola & zucchini salad, and then a succession of primi piatti – pumpkin gnocchi with a delicious cheese-cream sauce, alio-olio-pepperoncini spaghetti with soft green chilies from Hokkaido, porcini risotto with freshly grated parmigiano – all recommended by Angelo, without us ever needing to look at the menu. Tempting as it was, we skipped the pizza and headed directly for the secondo, which was a tagliata of veal with more fresh porcini. And finally, despite our protests, we received a mixed dessert plate that contained an incredible light mousse di cioccolato, fresh macedonia di frutta, and several other Italian dolci. Needless to say that we finished it all! The basic dinner course costs ¥2,800 and all wines are about ¥4,000 and below.
