Eight-Oh-Eighty-Eight Posted June 4, 2007 Report Share Posted June 4, 2007 I've been fixing Windows computers for a while, so I'm not a Windows noob, but I've been using Macs for my personal machines since my DOS based 8 MHz 8088. Now that I have my first Windows machine I need help with some things I've never had to deal with on my personal Machines.First I would like suggestions for a free or cheep total backup solution, preferably something that will make an image of my disk. My next question is once I have the image how do I restore it? I've been using Macs for a while and there are two excellent free programs for creating disk images or fully bootable mirror backups. Then all you need to do is boot up off of the OS install disk and then select disk utility and pick your image and the drive to restore from that image. This is the experience I'm trying to replicate. If this isn't possible in the Windows world, could someone please give me an alternate, easy, and hopefully free solution. From what you say, the Acronis works with anything and the Maxblast/Seagate Diskwizard only work with their respective brand of drive.Interesting to know that, thanks.
