caralampio Posted June 29, 2007 Report Share Posted June 29, 2007 I have a Dell Dimension 9150. I have had it almost two years. In the last ten days or so it has been making a strange sound, something like a claxon or a bawl. It is loud, lasts about 3/4 of a second, and has been increasing in frequency. Very irritating. It occurs whether the computer is idle or in any program I am using. It is not any Windows alarm sound that I recognize, but it could be said that it is somewhat similar to those. At first it occured once or twice per evening, now I hear it about every 10-15 minutes. As I am totally lost as to what this could be, the only fix I have tried so far is to turn off the mike, thinking that it might be some kind of feedback. No luck. Is there any other form of electronic equipment nearby? Try placing a portable radio close to the computer and see if the noise is picked up by that. (Just a shot in the dark).
