Calender problem

Recommended Posts

Can you help? My problem is simple but baffling. The computer clock runs perfectly - updated weekly & automatically by Microsoft time - with a "hole" made in the firewall to allow this. But every ten days or so the calender gets 1 day ahead of the real date. So, for example, if I look at System Restore I find restore points have already been made tomorrow! This would be fine if I could use it to read what the stock market will be tomorrow or which horse will win at the races - I'd soon become very rich. But, alas, the forecasting only applies to the computer's virtual world, not the real one.

Seriously, though, could anyone help with some advice: why does the clock run OK, but the calender gets ahead by 1 day in every 10. And can this problem be fixed?

Yes andsome, all that stuff is set correctly. Would this somehow make a difference? I live in Sri Lanka, not the UK. My time zone is, believe it or not, "Sri Jayawardanapura" (Look on the list - it's really there! GMT+ 5.5 hrs.) Anyway, the time is spot on as I said, updated weekly courtesy of Microsoft (Sometime websites even tell me that my time is wrong, but it's not - some of their systems can't cope with visitors from outside Europe or the USA).

It would make a difference for a short time on a daily basis. I can't help further, SORRY. :D

Some members may like to know that I think this problem has been fixed, as a result of a suggestion from Pat Willener on another thread. Though we don't have daylight saving time where I live (Sri Lanka), in December last year I downloaded the DST update from Microsoft and since then my calendar has been working correctly. So this might be a fix for others who also have problems with their clock or calendar and haven't been using the DST update. I've either of them are out of sync and you later adjust them it can make your Restore Points inaccessible.

I've also learnt how to spell calendAr correctly!
