computerlady
I thought I had done this at one time on an older computer but, can't seem to get it to work on my new one. I want to be able to share my Fax under Printers and Faxes. When I right-click on the Fax, select sharing, the window indicates that "sharing is not supported for this type of printer".What am I missing? Scarecrow Man
You may need to install the fax services.Open Add or Remove Programs in Control Panel.Click on Add/Remove Windows Components. In the Windows Components Wizard, select the Fax Services check box follow the instructions on your screen. computerlady
Have you ensured that FAX services is installed on the other printers and operative on the network. What other printers? How can it be operative on the network when I can't share it? This is a small peer-to-peer network. I have one workstation with a modem and connection to a phone line. I want to share that Fax device with others on the network. Again, my problem is that the Fax device under Printers and Faxes, Sharing says that sharing is not supported for this type of printer.Does anyone know if this is doable? I thought I have done this in the past.
Scarecrow Man
It would appear that you cannot share a fax device on a network. I have never done this myself, so I have just enabled and installed a blank fax and I am receiving the same message as you are. Perhaps this was a feature on an earlier version of Windows, but it does not appear possible in XP.
