Hitmanblack Posted July 14, 2007 Report Share Posted July 14, 2007 First off I want to say I hate asking something on my first post but I really need help.My specs are:AMD Athlon X2 4600+1GB RAM2x 160GB Hard Drives (use one for extra one for os no RAID configuration)Abit KN8 SLI MotherboardNvidia Georce 7600 GS 256MB Video Card420W Power Supply------------------------------------Now my problem is: I wanted to see how Vista was so I went out and bought Vista Ultimate (from my buddy). When I came back home and tried it out, it was nice, but a mule when it came to speed and performance. I wanted to downgrade back to Windows XP so I threw in my old Windows XP Home disc and it says========Windows Setup File \i386\ntkrnlmp.exe could not be loaded. The error code is 7. Press any key to exit.I tried multiple times with that disc and about 3 other discs (different version of home, professional, and media) and all got the same error. What the heck is wrong? I looked it up and it said it was either my RAM or my BIOS. Well i reset my bios, cmos and replaced the ram real quick with different ram and even tried different ram slots. No luck. I tried the boot it on the other hard drive, no luck. Alright I'm kinda freaking out at this point wondering how I am going to get XP running now, and I don't even have an OS running at the moment so I kinda need it in there! Does anyone know what might be wrong or possible solutions to this problem? Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. :-)P.S. trackrat Posted July 14, 2007 Report Share Posted July 14, 2007 Have you tried disconnecting the Vista drive, setting your other one up as master (Unless you have got SATA drives, in that case just try it with the spare drive connected, and install to that drive. Ali Linux-Lover Posted July 15, 2007 Report Share Posted July 15, 2007 you have a AMD 64 bit then your windows shouldn't look to the i386 architecture , then change your processor to 32 bit one, for this you have to change the board also.
