Blind Masseur Posted July 27, 2007 Report Share Posted July 27, 2007 I am a highly advanced computer user, but have retired in terms of advance computing, which is to say I'm capable of using all of the complex stuff but I don't really care to anymore. Basically, I don't want to go through the hassle of using linux anymore. I haven't been up to date on windows operating systems so I am wondering what would be best for someone like me.Basically I'm looking to go for a little-hassle system, but I'd like to be able to remove as many of the additional features associated with XP. I don't want to have any of the movie maker, windows messenger, xp theme, xp folder settings, etc. I like it really old classic style folders, theme, navigation, etc.So what I am asking is whether it would be better for me, this time around, to install "Windows XP Pro Corp SP2 Performance Edition 2007" or "Windows XP Crystal Edition 2007" or "Windows XP Ultimate Edition" or "Windows TinyXP Platinum Edition 2"? If you accidentally install a component you don't want, you can always uninstall it later.Many things (Start Menu, Control Panel, etc.) can be configured as "classic style". Blind Masseur Posted July 27, 2007 Author Report Share Posted July 27, 2007 I'm aware of everything that can be changed once XP is installed, and the windows xp I currently have installed is (I think) Windows XP Professional SP2, I don't know if it's Corp or not, but it's at least several years old. I last reformated about 8 months ago but have since lost the install disc and need to get a new copy of windows and the ones that are available to me (that I would consider getting) are:Windows XP Pro Corp SP2 Performance Edition 2007Windows XP Crystal Edition 2007Windows XP Ultimate EditionWindows TinyXP Platinum Edition 2I was wondering what anyone here might know about those different versions. Coreper Posted July 27, 2007 Report Share Posted July 27, 2007 none of these versions are official microsoft products, so i wouldnt get them if i were you [you are want to download them, right?]if you want windows xp with low requirements, i recommend installing home, setting all settings to best performance and installing only the programs you need...
