I am new to this forum and I am having an issue with the taskbar.I run Windows XP Home SP2.The problem can be pictured: http://s51.photobucket.com/albums/f372/Twi...ent=problem.jpgMy taskbar is repeating programs in a separate column. djohn Posted July 30, 2007 Report Share Posted July 30, 2007 Hello Twilight Elk and welcome to the forum. I notice you have your taskbar unlocked, does the same thing happen if you lock your taskbar? To do this, right click your mouse pointer anywhere on the taskbar and from the drop down menu place a tick at the side of 'Lock taskbar' Give this a try and let us know how you get on. :) Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

AlanHo Posted July 30, 2007 Report Share Posted July 30, 2007 Unlock the taskbarPlace the cursor on the top edge of the taskbar, the cursor should change to a double ended arrow, left click and move it down.If this reduces it to one line - lock the taskbar to prevent a recurrence. djohn Posted July 30, 2007 Report Share Posted July 30, 2007 Try unlocking taskbar again please then if you look to the left of your browser Icon on the taskbar and just before the 'Start' button you will see a dotted or dashed line running vertical on the taskbar. [it does show in your last two screen shots]. Place your pointer over this and move it to the right by a few inches. This will give more room for any Icons that are trying to show themselves there. Now as Alan says, hover your mouse pointer over the top of the taskbar until the pointer changes to double arrow, left click, hold/drag the taskbar down to single size. Relock taskbar when done. djohn Posted July 30, 2007 Report Share Posted July 30, 2007 Not a lot really as it all happens so quick. It does seem though that your taskbar is duplicating itself somewhat like a mirror image. I'll have a look see if I can find any info on this or one of our members may have the answer when they read your post. Don't worry, I'm sure we can cure the problem for you. I did a reboot and the problem fixed itself.I'm good now, but I dunno how it happened. I also have the IME, and I also have experienced the same taskbar problem before.I've noticed that if I remove the Language bar before a reboot (right-click on taskbar, toolbars, uncheck Language bar), then the taskbar corruption never occurs.Also, if you somehow get that corruption again, remove the Language bar, then reboot. shanebrk Posted August 1, 2007 Report Share Posted August 1, 2007 Hi new to this forum and i've similar problem except that my taskbar wont show any tabs for open windows.A picture can be found here There are a few windows open here but no tabs show up. You seem to have Links in it instead of active tasks.When you right-click on the taskbar, what do you see - especially which items are checked?When you select toolbars from the right-click, what do you see - especially which items are checked (Links?)? shanebrk Posted August 1, 2007 Report Share Posted August 1, 2007 Picture RequestThe links are selected because if I deselected them the task bar moves down almost out of the screen and I'd have nothing for the screen shot.There are no active tasks showing up as you can see from this picture, I have Firefox running but nothing on the task bar. Do you have anti-spyware and antivirus software installed? Are they up-to-date? Although i diid only recently upgrage to 360. While it was uninstalling norton 2005 it left me without a firewall or any other protection for a few minutes. I am doing a full scan at the minute and norton says it has found and fixed one risk, I wont know until the scan is finished and I restart if that is what the problem is.
