Downloading after Reformat

Recommended Posts

Hi, new to the forums, I'm 15 and my dad is making me reformat my computer on my own this time.

So i got Windows XP installed and my motherboard drivers all installed.

And i can connect to the internet and everything.

My problem:

I go onto the NVIDIA website to download my drivers BECAUSE I don't know where my CD's are.

So I go to the download page for my graphics driver for my card (Which is a GeForce 6800 OC PCI Express)

so i can play my various MMO's and stop that annoying screen thing for when i scroll.

I download the file and I hit run.

It starts reading the contents of the package then it says

"The contents of this file cannot be unpacked. The executable you are trying to run has been corrupted.

Please obtain another copy of the file, verify it's integrity, and try again."

___________

^This is the whole reason i reformatted in the first place, I was getting corrupted files when i download

and when i would watch videos on youtube it would pause during various times in the video like it had skipped

parts when buffering. It became extremely annoying, and after 6 or 7 months I was fed up.

So does anyone have any idea whats wrong? I really REALLY need help on this.

Thanks

~Travis H.

Additional question: is the driver install file name 162.18_forceware_winxp_32bit_english_whql.exe ?

If so, what is the exact size in bytes? I have temporarily downloaded it and the size I have is 46.7 MB (48,968,752 bytes). Is yours the same? If not, then the download is corrupted, and you have to download it again.

Don't break down yet :flowers:

What kind of Internet connection do you have?

What browser are you using?

I think there is an option *somewhere* to make downloading verify itself, but I can't really remember where that is.

I'm not sure what kind of ISP i have but i have a 100 mb/s connection

and i use both IE and Firefox

BUT its jsut that almost EVERYTIME i donwload ANYTHING

it is corrupt

and it makes me mad lol

I fixed it! Apparently it was a problem with the Nvidia ForceWare app with the NVIDIA Firewall...When it was released it was corrupted and it messes with the network card and it makes it act weird so all i had to do was uninstall NVIDIA ForceWare Network Manager Controller..and its fixed! Thanks sooo mcuh for your help guys!
